High-Selectivity Polysiloxane Membranes for Gases and Liquids Separation (A Review)

چکیده
Abstract The most promising approaches to making polysiloxane-based membranes more selective are considered. These can be subdivided into three groups: (1) development of new membrane materials by copolymerization, (2) modification the polysiloxane chain (in backbone and pendant chains), (3) mixed matrix membranes. All subjected a critical analysis, conclusions made on prospects for high-selectivity high-performance based them. data presented from viewpoint applied aspects

High selectivity ZIF-93 hollow fiber membranes for gas separation.
Zeolitic imidazolate framework-93 (ZIF-93) continuous membranes were synthesized on the inner side of P84 co-polyimide hollow fiber supports by microfluidics. MOFs and polymers showed high compatibility and the membrane exhibited H2-CH4 and CO2-CH4 separation selectivities of 97 (100 °C) and 17 (35 °C), respectively.
متن کاملFunctionalized and Electrospun Polymeric Materials as High-Performance Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell: A Review
Proton exchange membranes (PEM) for a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) have main drawbacks which are methanol permeability, reduced proton conductivity and the cost of the membrane. This paper reviews different polymeric materials such as fluorinated, non-fluorinated, acid-base complex, and composite membranes for DMFC. Currently, nonfluorinated membranes gain a lot of atte...
متن کاملDevelopment of Palladium-Alloy Membranes for Hydrogen Separation and Purification
This paper summarizes R&D activities and progress at NORAM Engineering and the University of British Columbia (UBC) on preparation and testing of thin palladium-based membranes and their applications. Most of these activities were carried out internally at NORAM, some jointly with UBC and their spin-off company, Membrane Reactor Technology (MRT) through a wide range of projects. Key results out...
متن کاملPreparation of asymmetric gas separation membranes with high selectivity by a dual-bath coagulation method
A new method for the preparation of gas separation membranes in a one-step procedure is presented, where common, non-volatile solvents can be used in the polymer solution. It concerns contacting of a polymer solution with two successive nonsolvent baths, whereby the first bath initiates the formation of a dense top layer and the second bath gives the actual polymer precipitation. Membranes made...
متن کاملClassical Gases and Liquids
Because there are only a few problems in statistical mechanics that can be solved exactly, we need to find approximate solutions. We introduce several perturbation methods that are applicable when there is a small expansion parameter. Our discussion of interacting classical particle systems will involve some of the same considerations and difficulties that are encountered in quantum field theor...
